Credit Control Executive
Job Description:
We are looking for a proactive and detail-oriented Credit Control Executive to join our Finance team and take ownership of accounts receivable, credit control, and client collections across the business.
The ideal candidate should have strong financial and analytical skills, excellent communication and negotiation abilities, and the confidence to manage client relationships while ensuring timely collections and maintaining healthy cash flow.
Key Responsibilities
- Monitor customer accounts and proactively follow up on outstanding invoices to ensure timely collections.
- Assess and manage client credit limits and credit terms in line with company policy and risk appetite.
- Prepare and circulate ageing reports, highlighting overdue accounts and escalating high-risk exposures.
- Investigate and resolve invoice disputes, discrepancies, and short payments in coordination with sales and operations teams.
- Reconcile customer accounts and ensure receipts are accurately allocated and recorded in Xero.
- Liaise directly with clients on payment plans, reminders, and collection calls, maintaining a professional and firm approach.
- Maintain up-to-date and accurate credit control records, correspondence logs, and supporting documentation for audit purposes.
- Support month-end close by providing accurate accounts receivable and provision for doubtful debts data.
- Prepare periodic collections and cash flow forecasts for management review.
- Work with legal/external parties on recovery action for long-outstanding or disputed accounts where necessary.
- Ensure compliance with internal financial controls and company credit policy at all times.
- Provide regular updates and reporting to the Regional Director, Finance on collection performance and risk exposure.
- Build and maintain good rapport and professional relationships with clients.
Requirements
- Proficiency in Xero accounting software.
- Strong Excel skills, including ageing analysis, pivot tables, and reconciliation workflows.
- Solid understanding of credit control principles, accounts receivable processes, and collections best practices.
- Excellent negotiation and communication skills, with the confidence to handle difficult client conversations professionally.
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy in financial record-keeping.
- Ability to manage multiple accounts and priorities under pressure and to deadlines.
- Fluency in English and Sinhala is mandatory, ability to converse in Tamil is an absolute plus.
